I just started collecting Yuengling beer cans in March of 2008. Actually I started collecting beer cans in the mid 70's. Back then, like most beginners, I collected everything I could get my hands on, American, and foreign, every size, and every variation. Between the display cans and the boxed traders the amount of cans started to get out of control, so I started to downsize due to space (and the wife's threats). I sold most of the collection and retained only a few favorites and some Bi-Centennials. For the next 30 years can collecting was practically nonexistent.
Since then my wife and I sold the house and retired to the mountains of Pennsylvania. While looking through the Breweriana section on Ebay I came upon a group of Yuengling cans for sale. The picture of them brought back memories of both can collecting and my fondness of their beer. I remembered when Yuengling wasn’t available in the area we moved from. One of my co-workers had a kid going to college in PA near Pottsville. He brought back some bottles of Yuengling Lager for a few of us to try. It was an immediate hit. From then on, every time he would leave to visit his son, he would take case orders of Yuengling to bring back. He was definitely making one heck of a “beer run”.
Needless to say I ended up placing a bid on the cans and won! So here I am back to looking for both old and new cans. Only this time they will be from just one brewery. The oldest brewery in the U.S.A. So, if you have any Yuengling cans for sale or trade please email me with a list.
When I started collecting Yuengling beer cans I tried to locate a source that listed all of the cans ever filled by the Yuengling brewery. I was hoping to find a publication that included pictures and other information, such as the year of issue. Since I came up empty handed I decided to comprise my own list by researching the internet. The following pages are a result of that research. I’m sure that I’m missing numerous cans and much information. I’ll continue to update the list as I acquire more information. If you have any pictures or information regarding any cans filled by D.G. Yuengling & Son, Inc. I would appreciate hearing from you.
Below is a picture of what I call my "TOP 10". These are the 10 oldest cans I've acquired as of October 1st, 2008.
